In Pursuit of Handcraft
My journey in woodworking started with finding inspiration from the source, a love affair with trees. When I was a young boy, my favorite moments were had sitting amongst the pine needles under shade trees that sheltered me from the hot Arkansas sun. That warm feeling of being at home in the forest is still one I get today every time I walk into my shop surrounded by all the wood I’ve collected over the years. I’ve been chasing this feeling ever since. That led me to a career in furniture making. I went on to train with Fischer furniture, in New York, while also training and studying traditional Japanese Sashimono woodworking nights and weekends. I truly found that feeling I was searching for in Japanese craft, and it’s been an obsession ever since. With over a decade of professional experience in fine furniture and architectural woodcraft using traditional Japanese hand tools, my goal is to share this same experience with others.
